MixTape

Wikipedia: A mixtape, mix-tape or mix tape is the generic name given to any compilation of songs recorded onto any audio format.

I do realize there are some readers (youngsters) out there in Blog Land who have no idea what this is. ;) Who remembers this? Do you remember being tempted to pull the shiny, black tape? If you actually did it, you paid the price by having to take a pencil and spin that %$^$# back into the cassette. Consequences....

When I read today's topic prompt, I couldn't decide if I am a newbie or have been blogging long enough to call my self sort-of experienced. I counted...I have written 11 blog posts. Whether I am a new or an old blogger, I have decided that the topics (of my own creation or those of Diabetes Blog Week's) cover a wide variety of material, like a mixtape. Material includes my diabetes diagnosis, stories of my 2 children and life as a Type 1 Diabetic (or more p.c., life as a person who has diabetes).

I was at a 3rd grade function last night and the moms were discussing the old-school playlists, known as mixtapes. How many readers out there remember waiting for your latest favorite song to come on the radio so you could tape it (waiting for it with one finger on the play button and another on the record button. You had to push them at the same time at just the right moment. It was pure recording magic)?! The recording was always terrible, with the DJ talking in the background. Hilarious and, unfortunately, this vital reflection ages me.

The post that stands out the most is my first one, "Has Anyone Lost a Wallet?"

This post represents a time of drastic change in my life. Back then, it was quite traumatic. Fast forward 14 years and I have learned a great deal and I have used my experiences to publish my first children's book about diabetes, Maddie's Me Bag. The post brings back memories of long ago but it represents how far I have come. It reminds me of the importance of relationships. It is the foundation for the posts I have already written and I look forward to writing more....
